FUROSHIKI CHALK BAG
The .Bungkus Furoshiki Chalk Bag has hit Camp5’s Pro-shops just in time for Earth Day. This reel shows the process of making one... It took eight months of R&D and eight prototypes to get the Furoshiki Chalk Bag just right.
Soft plastic waste, along with material from pre-loved Kimono’s has been upcycled into a beautiful treasure that you can fall in love with for a very long time. The team at .bungkus hope that when it does get worn, and torn, that you find ways to mend it and fall in love again.
It uses Furoshiki, the Japanese style of wrapping using cloth for its closure, doing away with the need for Velcro or zips. There’s a brush holder element too! From the placement of plastic to construct the plastic sheets to the roll hemmed kimono fabric, each chalk bag is beautifully handcrafted with plenty of thought and care.
Most soft plastic waste is not recycled here in Malaysia, it’s just piling up in landfills a result of our “bungkus” take away, single use plastic culture. Insane! Especially considering it can take 20 - 500 years for plastic waste to decompose.
.bungkus is a recycling Japanese design-based company born in Malaysia that uses waste material to create beautiful things. And the Furoshiki Chalk Bag is just that!
